Well, we've been back for a month, so it's about time! We had such a fun trip to Utah in July; we could have stayed 2 more weeks, but that whole "work" thing always gets in the way. :) We stayed 10 days and got in as much as we could. It was wonderful to see our family and friends and it always makes us miss them all the more when we come home. It's funny how when we're here, we just go on with our life and we're so busy, we don't really realize how much we're missing. We have a niece who was just tiny last time we saw her and now she's big. Crazy how that happens, huh? Everyone grew a foot, okay well all of the kids, and our kids didn't so that was fun. I guess we need more vegetables or something.
It's amazing how much we miss our family and how much fun we have while we're there. It's just a 10-day party for us and it's so nice to be involved and included. It makes us feel back in the loop and it's wonderful. My poor dad and Debbie have enough space for all of us, so we invade them while we're there, but we love it! We also got to see both of our grandparents, which was both wonderful and a little heartbreaking. My grandparents have really changed a lot in 1 year and it's really hard to see. My grandma fell and broke her hip a few months ago and then fell again right before we were there. She doesn't remember everything like she used to but my grandpa is still as sharp as they come, just a lot more fragile. I cried all the way up the lane when we left. Cody's grandma has Alzheimer's and didn't have a clue who we were or why we were there, but she was just as gracious as she always was. It was very difficult to see her but we're so glad we went. The kids were so cute with her and we all put puzzles together, looked at her room and talked about pictures. It's so hard to see our grandparents getting old and especially when we only see them once a year. It's definitely bittersweet.
